Each May, we observe National Neuropathy Awareness Month to shine a light on peripheral neuropathy – a condition that affects millions of people worldwide. Characterized by symptoms like pain, numbness, tingling, and muscle weakness, peripheral neuropathy can deeply affect day-to-day life and overall well-being.

At HPC Specialty Infusion, we are proud to support this important cause by raising awareness, advocating for early diagnosis, and providing compassionate, specialized care through in-home infusion therapy.

What Is Peripheral Neuropathy?

Peripheral neuropathy refers to damage to the peripheral nerves, which transmit messages between the brain and spinal cord and the rest of the body. It can stem from a wide range of causes, including:

  • Diabetes
  • Autoimmune disorders
  • Infections
  • Certain medications

Though the condition can be challenging, hope is not lost. One of the promising treatments for certain types of neuropathy is Intravenous Immunoglobulin (IVIg) therapy, which helps reduce inflammation and manage symptoms. Our dedicated team at HPC Specialty Infusion specializes in administering IVIg in the comfort and safety of patients’ homes – ensuring personalized care every step of the way.

Our Mission This Month

This National Neuropathy Awareness Month, we are focusing on three key pillars:

  • Educate: Raise awareness about the causes, symptoms, and treatment options for peripheral neuropathy.
  • Advocate: Highlight the importance of access to early diagnosis and specialized therapies like IVIg.
  • Support: Recognize the strength of patients and celebrate the dedication of the healthcare professionals who care for them.

How You Can Help

You can take part in making a difference this month by:

  • Learning more about peripheral neuropathy through trusted resources like the Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy
  • Sharing your personal story or supporting someone affected by the condition
  • Thanking a nurse, doctor, or caregiver who provides compassionate care

Together, we can make a meaningful impact in the lives of those affected by peripheral neuropathy.
